💛 Why we love it

The Boui Boui Café-théâtre is an iconic establishment in Old Lyon, dedicated to comedy shows. Open since 1994, this intimate venue has become a true breeding ground for comedic talent, hosting established and emerging artists every week.

Origins and history

Founded on October 12, 1994, Le Boui Boui was conceived as a space dedicated to comedy and conviviality. Its vaulted auditorium, seating approximately 70 and located in a typical Lyonnais cellar, fosters a close connection between the audience and the comedians. The establishment has hosted now-famous figures such as Florence Foresti, Anthony Kavanagh, Gérald Dahan, and Jonathan Lambert.

Programming and style

Le Boui Boui offers a packed program of stand-up comedy, improvisation, and one-person shows throughout the year. Its evenings are punctuated by original creations and comedy competitions such as... Kandidator, and performances by touring artists. The venue is managed by Stéphane Casez and Stéphane Fioc.

Considered a landmark among Lyon's comedy clubs, Le Boui Boui plays a central role in discovering and training new comedians. Its friendly atmosphere and intimate setting make it an essential venue for local comedy culture, supported in particular by SC Productions, the company that organizes the shows.
