💛 Why we love it

Shalala is a self-managed performance bar and café-theatre located in the heart of Lyon's 1st arrondissement, on the slopes of Croix-Rousse. Founded in 2016 by a troupe of passionate actors, it has established itself as a unique cultural venue blending conviviality, humour and artistic creation.

A hybrid concept

Shalala combines the atmosphere of a neighborhood café with a rich program of live performances. In the first room, the bar welcomes a relaxed crowd with craft beers, local products, and homemade platters. Between the tables, comedians improvise songs, sketches, or short acts, blurring the lines between spectator and artist.

An intimate performance venue

Behind the bar, a small room with about fifty seats hosts the main performances. The program ranges from theater and comedy to music, magic, children's shows, and circus arts. On weeknights, several acts follow one another in a cabaret-like atmosphere.

A committed troupe

Collectively managed by "La Bande du Shalala," the venue champions a participatory approach to culture: pay-what-you-want admission on certain evenings, improvisation and comedy festivals, and original productions renewed each season. The spirit of the place is based on the close relationship between artists and audience, spontaneity, and the joy of performance.

A cultural landmark in Lyon

Located at 95 montée de la Grande-Côte, Le Shalala is one of Lyon's iconic bohemian spots. Its blend of live theatre, improvisation, and conviviality makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a warm and unconventional artistic experience.
