📍 Banks of the Rhône, Lyon
💛 Why we love it
Because it's Lyon's open-air living room! Stretching for nearly 5 kilometers, the riverbanks offer a space dedicated to walking and urban leisure, punctuated by 8 different landscapes—sometimes urban, sometimes verdant. We love the freedom to do whatever we want: run, stroll, picnic, play pétanque, or simply relax on a deckchair facing the river. In the evening, bars and barges offer the chance to enjoy a drink on a terrace in a unique atmosphere. A true living space, summer and winter alike.

In the heart of Lyon, the banks of the Rhône stretch for 5 km, dedicated to urban recreation, between the Raymond Poincaré Bridge and Gerland Park. Developed by Greater Lyon, they skillfully blend hardscapes and green spaces to accommodate the Rhône's flooding. Reserved for non-motorized transport, they offer safe and landscaped routes for cyclists, skateboarders, Segways, and pedestrians. Interspersed with children's playgrounds, a skate park, tiered seating for relaxing in the sun, and an open-air theater, they have become a vibrant public space that the people of Lyon cherish.

Note : twelve plaques "Mirrors of Women along the water" pay homage to iconic European women — from Marlene Dietrich to Ellen MacArthur — marking the promenade with an artistic and memorial dimension.
