Enter the Museum courtyard during opening hours.

The façade located on the right, on the northern plot (10-12 rue Gadagne), is the most remarkable. Built in the 1520s-1530s by the Pierrevive family on the former outbuildings of La Boyssette, it has very prominent door frames with geometric lines, inspired by Italian models, particularly Sienese. This detail, rare in Lyon, reflects the refinement also visible inside the historic rooms. Between the windows on the first floor, oval oculi have been pierced, heavily restored in the 1960s. Today, this building brings together several sections of the museum: the World Puppet Museum on the ground floor, the History Museum on the intermediate floors and, on the top floor, the documentation center.

The left façade, on the southern plot (14 rue Gadagne), is less impressive. Dating mainly from the 17th century, it is the result of work carried out by Falconet. The mullioned and transomed windows, with sharp edges and no mouldings, are typical of this period. The top floor was added in the 19th century and today houses a small theatre.
