Description

It is in Paris, and more precisely in the Paris metro, that several characters' destinies will intertwine. The story centers around Rose, a young woman with a velvety voice, who sings in the metro to make ends meet. She was raised by her mother until the age of 15, before her mother passed away from a serious illness. One day, Antoine, the costume designer at the "Ballroom," a very chic Parisian cabaret, hears the young woman singing on the platform. Deeply moved by her talent, he invites her to come and see the show and insists that she truly deserves to make it her profession. On the evening of the performance, he takes a somewhat daring initiative and uses the intermission to encourage his guest to sing on stage. He sees it as an unmissable opportunity for her to showcase her talent to all the spectators in the audience, and for once, in a comfortable setting. Because she is not dressed very elegantly, Rose becomes the target of criticism and mockery from some people. Moreover, Macha, the star dancer of the show, doesn't hesitate to rail against her, finding it shameful that a beggar woman was allowed into the "Ballroom" and, above all, that she was allowed to perform on the same stage as her. Feeling humiliated, Rose runs for the exit and leaves the theater in tears. At the end of the show, Charles de la Tour, a wealthy man and regular at the "Ballroom," inquires about the young woman with Léandre. He desperately wants to find her. The director of the "Ballroom" suggests that the man go to the "Good News" station, where the beggar woman spends most of her time. He eventually sees her and exchanges a few words with her. He introduces himself as a simple admirer and tries to convince her to take control of her life, suggesting that her talent could lead to a great career. He offers her his help. But his powers of persuasion fail, and the young woman refuses all advice, isolating herself. She prefers to stay far from the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world and has grown accustomed to her routine and life in the subway with Casper, her street performer friend. Powerless but determined to help her, Casper still believes that the talented director of the "Ballroom" will find a solution, a surprise that could make her happy. Indeed, Léandre eventually proposes to his new patron the creation of a subway show starring Rose. "Good News" thus becomes the artist's source of inspiration, and the show is born. It's a resounding success; journalists and audiences alike are unanimous in their praise of the singer's undeniable talent. At the end of the show, Charles de la Tour rushed to congratulate the new star and, at the same time, confided in her: "I can confirm you are radiant, and I thank Léandre and all the dancers for making the star that you are shine. The pendant you are wearing is also magnificent; your mother is on the front… whom you resemble so much, by the way… And on the back of this piece of jewelry, know that there was once a photograph of an 18-year-old young man who terribly regrets having been afraid one day and who, all his life, has tried to find his daughter…" Overwhelmed with emotion, Rose realized that the man in front of her was in fact her father. She immediately understood that a new chapter in her life had just begun.
