📍 60 rue Saint-Jean, Lyon 5th arrondissement, Lyon
💛 Why we love it
Nestled in the Maison des Avocats, a historic building in Old Lyon, this fascinating private museum brings together two unique worlds. On one side, life-size film sets and original props from cult movies (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Aliens...). On the other, more than 100 hyper-realistic miniatures by the artist Dan Ohlmann. A stunning experience, ranked among the top museums in Lyon.

The Cinema & Miniature Museum has been established in the House of Lawyers, an architectural masterpiece of the Renaissance in the heart of Rue Saint-Jean, in Old Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On 2,000 m² of permanent exhibition space, It brings together two equally fascinating worlds.

The part movie theater It immerses visitors in the behind-the-scenes world of cinema: more than 10,000 original pieces—costumes, props, life-size sets, latex prosthetics, special effects—from the biggest Hollywood and European studios. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Alien, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, Harry Potter, The Matrix, Batman… cult classics from several generations come together in a meticulously designed, immersive setting.

On the top floor, the section miniatures It's a unique experience: around a hundred hyperrealistic scenes created by artists from all over the world, recreating interiors, streets, workshops, and cafes with meticulous precision. These unique works, the result of years of work, rarely leave visitors unmoved.

Recommendations

  • Book your tickets online in advance, especially during peak season and school holidays — the museum regularly sells out.
  • Plan at least 2 hours of visit, even more so if you are the type to look for hidden details in miniatures.
  • Don't miss the top floor: many visitors spend too much time downstairs and skim over the miniatures, which deserve full attention.
  • The ticket is included in the Lyon City Card — a good idea if you are visiting several museums in one day.
  • Ticket office access is available until 1 hour before closing; after this time, a reduced "end of day" rate is offered in the shop.
