Nestled on the top floor of the Musée Gadagne, it boasts a suspended terrace, a Renaissance garden, and an atmosphere unlike any other in Lyon. A calm, bright, almost secret haven, ideal for lunch, brunch, or a cultural break.

Located at 4th floor From the building, the Gadagne garden is freely accessible from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.It is a veritable hanging garden, composed of four themed flowerbeds:

A nod to ancient knowledge.

Including the famous Belle de Gadagne, created in 2015.

A garden steeped in history

Gadagne café garden, Lyon Mentioned from the 14th century, The garden was originally a sloping piece of farmland. Over the centuries, it became:
  • 15th century — orchard and vegetable garden
  • 16th century — Renaissance garden laid out by the Pierrevives
  • 17th century — creation of a "cool grotto" and a fountain
  • 18th century — addition of a greenhouse and planting of vines
  • 19th century — complete redesign of the hydraulic network
  • 20th century — gradual abandonment
  • 1998–2009 — rebirth thanks to the renovation of the museum
Today, the garden is being reinterpreted by the Lyon Botanical Garden, in the spirit of Renaissance gardens.
