In 1855, a parish was founded in the Mont-Sauvage district, with a temporary church. In 1869, construction began on a permanent church on land donated by Father Callot. Architect Clair Tisseur was commissioned for the project in 1874. The church was completed in 1882, but over the decades, it suffered damage. In 1987, a fire damaged the interior. In 2011, the School of Fine Arts organized an exhibition. Closed to the public to this day, the church remains a significant part of the collective memory.
