On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2026, THE Blandan Park offers guided tours exceptional of its bastions. Inaugurated in September 2013, this 17-hectare park is a green oasis located at the junction of the 3rd, 7th and 8th arrondissements of Lyon.
This tour will immerse you in over five centuries of history, from the time of the Château de La Motte, a popular stopover for travelers including Marie de Medici, to its transformation into a military barracks in the 19th century. You will discover how the once fortified site became a green oasis while preserving its historical heritage. You will explore the high walls of the former Sergent Blandan barracks, which housed up to 1,193 men, and understand the evolution of this strategic location.
A fascinating immersion between military history, architectural heritage and urban nature, at the heart of an exceptional site which also offers a 1,300 m² skatepark.
