Mobility · East Lyon · Tramway T6
Thanks to 5.4 km of additional track and 10 new stations, the extension of the T6 line now connects the Eastern Hospitals to the Lyon-Tech La Doua Campus – INSA Lyon in just 20 minutes.
A new, structuring ring road for eastern Lyon
The extension transforms the T6 into the first major tramway ring road inside the ring road, connecting major hubs: Hôpitaux Est, Jules-Grandclément, Gratte-Ciel, La Doua campus.
«"The commissioning of the T6 line extension on February 14, 2026, will connect the Eastern Hospitals to La Doua in 20 minutes thanks to 5.4 km of additional track and 10 new stations."»
The 4 ambitions of the project
- Improve the provision of public transport.
- Redevelop public spaces and add greenery.
- Strengthen the TCL network (metro lines A, B, D, trams T1, T3, T4…).

A tramway that transforms the city
The project rethinks public space: widened sidewalks, separated lanes, green strips, modernized street furniture.
Rainwater infiltration trenches have been created under the tracks. "8 hectares are affected by this system, representing 55 % of the T6 route," contributing to the recharge of groundwater.
The return of nature to the city
500 trees have been planted to create pockets of coolness and promote biodiversity. Shelters for birds, bats and lizards complete the development.
Stations designed for travelers
The new stations offer more comfort: enhanced signage, totems, guidance strips, and vegetated pergolas.
Stations adapted to the neighborhood
- Respect for existing trees.
- Vegetated pergolas (Kimmerling, Grandclément).
- Minimalist shelters in the Gratte-Ciel sector.
Roger Planchon Station
Reuse of metal beams and posts from old factories, pergola, flowerbeds and enhanced vegetation.
Art at Villeurbanne Station
The artist Io Burgard signed the work Fluid stations, inspired by the Rize, a historic underground watercourse.
