Immerse yourself in the heart of Lyon's silk industry

For the 2026 European Heritage Days, discover the’Municipal weaving workshop Located in the heart of Croix-Rousse, this historic workshop preserves the soul of the silk weavers and revives the workings of the traditional looms that have made Lyon internationally famous.

Housed in a typical silk weaver's building, this heritage site bears witness to the work of 19th-century weavers, the evolution of Jacquard techniques, and the unique textile know-how passed down through generations.

Heritage Days 2026 Program

• Weaving demonstrations: Witness the live operation of mechanical and hand looms, accompanied by explanations of the thread passage and shuttle movement.
• Guided tour (40 min): Discover the history of silk in Lyon, the daily life of the silk workers and the impact of mechanization on the factory.

40-minute guided tours organized on Saturday, September 19, 2026 (departures at 9am, 10am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm).
