For the 2026 European Heritage Days, come and visit the’Mattelon Workshop, A family-run hand-weaving workshop, listed as a Historical Monument. An authentic testament to the silk industry and the home-based work of the silk weavers in the 19th and 20th centuries, this exceptional site opens its doors to you for an immersion in the textile history of Lyon.

Located on the second floor of a typical silk weaver's building built in 1878 and then taken over in 1939 by master weaver Georges Mattelon, the workshop has preserved its original looms in perfect working order.

Heritage Days 2026 Program

• Weaving demonstrations: Witness live demonstrations on historical handlooms and discover the precious techniques of artisan weavers.
• Guided tour: Educational explanations of manufacturing techniques, presentation of silk trades and a fascinating recap of the history of the silk weavers and Lyon silk industry.
• Limited capacity: Organised tours in small groups (up to 18 people simultaneously) by appointment for a personalized experience.
