The spirit: tradition without the folklore Located in the Ainay district, the establishment playfully subverts the conventions of Lyon's culinary scene. While the name might raise a smile, the food itself is quite serious. The aim isn't to create a museum, but to evoke the spirit of old-fashioned bistros: conviviality, the sizzle of frying, the clinking of glasses, and large tables where diners sit close together.
On the plate: snacks and stews The menu evolves with the seasons while maintaining a strong connection to local produce and traditional, casual cuisine:
- The entries to share: crispy cracklings, homemade terrines, well-executed eggs mayonnaise and sourced charcuterie products.
- The naughty dishes: Seared cuts of meat, dumplings, marrow bones, gently simmered stews and gourmet side dishes (homemade fries, buttery mashed potatoes).
- Retro desserts: Chocolate mousse by the ladle, praline tart or floating island to finish on a nostalgic note.
Glass side: the barrel first. Staying true to the aperitif and bar atmosphere, the wine selection gives pride of place to local vineyards. You'll find excellent wines from Beaujolais and the Rhône Valley, served by the glass, by the string, or in a Lyonnais pot, offered by a team that enjoys providing friendly and unpretentious advice.
